I don't know if anyone has heard of EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique. It is quite amazing
I'm at present doing a EFT Diploma Course with the Distance Learning College.
There is a great site that gives a lot of info about EFT
http://www.emofree.com/

Not sure if that worked or not. I've tried EFT and it does give relief, sometimes it has to be repeated a few times
but I use it quite a lot.

I have tried this technique in tandem with a therapist, and actually did it for about 2 months. I'd have to say, the results were terrible.

It left me in an emotional state that I was not cognitively equipped to deal with, and as my therapy finished at that point, it altered the way I saw the world - in a negative way - for about two years after that. To the point where I almost lost my relationship, etc. It also was a serious trigger for my touch phobia around professionals. EFT did not work for me.

My current therapist also practices EFT but after suggesting it once and seeing my extremely strong reaction to it, she hasn't suggested it again.

I think on its own, EFT is good for what I would consider to be minor problems (please keep in mind that what I consider minor is only comparable to my own experiences, and I know that for each individual it might be perceived as very different), particularly general phobias, or for example, problems with self esteem that are NOT grounded in past abuse and more via peer pressure etc.

I would never really do it again.

Aww hun I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience with EFT.

EFT does bring up a lot of issues and aspects of issues and it's unfortunate that you were left in this state because your therapy had finshed. I believe a therapist using EFT should see the client right through to the end of all the issues etc that have come up during therapy.

I guess going to an EFT therapist is expensive though. I've never gone to one I just do it myself, having learned about it from the website I put in my post, and by doing the course.

I hope you are getting on ok with your new therapist. I will keep in mind for future reference that EFT is not for everyone.

Aleia, I hope you don't mind me asking a personal question - but do you pay for all of that?

Do you get the disks 1 by 1 or did you get the whole lot?

Is it really worth all that money?

I'm very interested in getting it - that's why the questions - I'm not questioning your choices or the validity! Wink

This one definitely didn't. And didn't even indicate that that would be the case. :/

The one I'm seeing now I think would be much better with it, but I'm too scared to give it a go now really.

I'm sure you will do a much better job with it. Smile

Thank you Very Happy

I can't blame you for feeling scared to try EFT again, perhaps you could let your therapist know why you are so scared of trying EFT and she might be able to come up with a few suggestions. Just go with what you feel comfortable with and if you don't feel comfortable don't do it.

Keeping you in my thoughts Very Happy

Hi Dethas

I'm learning how to use EFT through books. I didn't buy the tapes form emofree.com. I downloaed the free EBook and read through all of it Very Happy

The long distance course I'm on cost £147 and I'm working from a book (included in the course material) called Adventures in EFT by Silvia Hartmann. I have until October to return my exam papers and if I pass I'll get a Diploma Certificate in EFT.

You csan buy the book on its own from Amazon its about £23 if I remember rightly.

Learning EFT is simple enough but this is a powerful technique which can bring to the surface many deep buried issues and aspects of issues as moonvoice found out, and you really need to be in a position to deal with all the stuff coming up to the surface.

I hope this helps you Very Happy

Love and Hugs

I would tread carefully then Dethas. I used EFT with regards to my overeating and a whole load of stuff came up that had me in tears for hours, stuff from my childhood etc amd that was only after 1 round of tapping.

There's no harm in reading about it but be careful that you will be able cope if you use it because, if you are repressing feelings then EFT will bring them rushing to the surface.

*hugs Dethas*

I will quickly say hon, that it was a Reiki attunement which brought forth my flashbacks and it was seriously overwhelming.

Take care, go gentle, be careful. Energy does what it wants sometimes. I know you are strong, but be mindful that Reiki can bring it up too.

*lots of hugs*
